Relatives/Friends of Addicts

For family members of addicts, seeing a loved one suffer in the grip of addiction can itself be a source of great distress. I help relatives and friends of addicts find healing from the collateral trauma of addiction.

Individual Therapy

The road to recovery can be lonely. But you don’t have to go it alone. With therapy based on the 12-step programme, I walk with you step-by-step to help you find freedom.

Couples Therapy

The 12-step programme in combination with Narrative Therapy offers many helpful tools for couples to grow in relationship and experience together.

Walk The Road to Recovery

SACAP Qualified Counsellor

I have been actively involved in the field of recovery since Aug 2006. My primary focus is to assist in the treatment of obsessive behaviour around substance abuse and all process addictions. I have eight years of experience working in leading primary care facilities and my own journey enables me to have a unique understanding of how the mind of an addict works.

I offer face-to-face counselling in Somerset West, as well as online counselling. I have clients from all over the world, with whom I connect via Zoom and WhatsApp video call.

I have a Diploma in Counselling from the South African College of Applied Psychology (SACAP). I am grateful that I have been shown my purpose in life and my passion is to share my experience, strength and hope with the still suffering addict and/or alcoholic.

You don’t have to remain stuck in cycles of hopelessness. You can begin anew today!

Experience New Freedom

Break free from hurts, hang-ups and harmful habits

Healing is not about going back to the way things were… we cannot go back. Healing is about moving into a new reality. We move forward by dealing with our hurts, hang-ups and habits. I walk with my clients to move forward one step at a time.

What People Are Saying

After the rejection of my family and my finances in shambles I realized that I had to change my life. I refused to accept that I was an alcoholic. I had been to a few rehab’s and it was just not working out. Eventually I stopped drinking but life was a misery. I could not cope with what I did in my past. I went to AA and sat in meetings but it still did not fill the void. Alcohol had always been my solution, albeit temporary relief.

Then Gert came into my life. He came just at the right time. I was ready for change. He helped me work the 12 steps with a non-judgmental attitude. Through his guidance I was made aware of the fact that alcohol was not the main issue but my way of life was.

He pointed out certain facts which were not eagerly met. I had to face the things that I did. Don’t blame others. Look at your part that you played.

For this progress I will forever be grateful.

Gert has been pivotal in helping me grow as a person and heal from life’s little knocks. Although I don’t suffer or struggle with any addictions, Gert and the structure of the 12 step program, helped me identify and deal with my own personal insecurities and dysfunctional behaviour, that used to lead to a few “broken” relationships and a doubt within myself. His discernment and integrity, along with faith based guidance and counsel left me with a confidence and hope, as he walked alongside me on my path and journey to healing and becoming a more confident and better version of myself. Not only to my own benefit, but also the benefit of those around me. Having been equipped with tools and resources, through Gert’s guidance and assistance, as well as the occasional objective truths. I feel able to identify and manage any future triggers and deal with my behaviour in an uplifting manner and not sabotage my own future or relationships with those people who are important to me.

Thank you Gert, for walking alongside me through some troubled times and also now in sharing the better times ahead. God bless!

After what feels like the hundredth time of embarrasment, disappointment, hurt and mixed emotions after a session of drinking too much behind my wife and childs back I decided to draw the line again! This time was different. Devine timing and intervention was at work. I asked for help via a mutual friend for a number of someone at the AA. I didn’t know Gert from a bar of soap but i didn’t care. He related with my experience and made sure I was willing to change. I soon realized how completely committed this person was, beyond comprehension! I have been through many self reflection processes but this was done so thoroughly that there was no escape. Thanks to Gert’s complete dedication the 12 step plan was not what I expected… It was much, much more. It changed my life and perseptions of my thinking process and where it originates from and how it is linked with addiction. Not to mention how other peoples reactions and perseptions are formed. My life path was on a highway to destruction and i could see it unfold. Thanks to Gert and his relentless dedication to my situation I have come to understand my addiction through our creator Christ.

Gert, thank you for being the conduit where through this process flows.
Gert is also now a friend a confidant and a pillar to stand against when I need one.

I’m Laurika* and I’m an addict. My life has made a 180° turn since the first meeting I had with Gert.
I tried various strategies and asked many people for help. Years and years went by but nothing really changed.
I found Gert on Google, desperately searching for help, I filled in the contact form, and he phoned me within 24 hours, willing to help. I was instantly relieved because of the fast reply.
How it started…
In our first session, he helped me identify both the key issues and simple strategies to start addressing them.
He had access to a huge volume of supporting literature and knowledge he collected over his years of experience. I could immediately see that he is passionate about what he does.
The area he chose for us to meet in was welcoming, and open but private, and I felt safe being there alone.
His personality…
Gert is kind, calm, and collected. The perfect definition of a good listener. He is extremely patient and always has a neutral atmosphere while you are sharing your story or answering questions he asks. He gives objective, research-based advice and guidance. No bias opinions. This made trusting him easy.
I can undoubtedly say that you can fully trust him with your private information. He will connect you to groups and give you information that will be beneficial to the support you need to get.
I am finally clean of substance abuse and even though many things played a role in my sobriety, meeting with Gert was the turning point and I wouldn’t have come this far without him.
